culinary 2-yearIf cooking gets you all fired up, or more importantly, if you're good in the kitchen, or if you love the hospitality industry and find yourself at home in a restaurant or hotel, then a career in the culinary or hospitality field might be for you.

There's nothing that brings the people of the world together than their love of different foods, so why not expand your love of the culinary and hospitality industry and find a two-year degree program that will allow you to study abroad? You can choose a range of different countries that are known for their love of food, including the United States, France, Spain, Italy, Australia, the United Kingdom, China, India and Japan.

In a two-year study abroad culinary or hospitality program, you will have the opportunity to possibly learn and use another language, as well as immerse yourself in the culture and history of another country. This will allow you to understand the different foods, their origins, and how to better prepare and serve them. Students in advanced culinary/hospitality study abroad programs will also learn how to properly use kitchen equipment such as knives and other necessary tools in a professional kitchen.

Most programs in culinary schools require a significant amount of actual kitchen time learning to prepare meals. Internships and apprenticeship programs are also common for graduation requirements in a culinary and hospitality study abroad program. Learning to prepare food isn't the only requirement for students in a study abroad culinary and hospitality program. Students will most likely be required to attend business classes such as learning to order and stock inventory, computer courses, as well as accounting courses in calculating profit and loss.

How to Choose a Two-Year Study Abroad Culinary and Hospitality Program
Some chefs have a broad overall knowledge of all foods and how to prepare them, while many of the top chefs have specialties in different food cuisines. If your desire is to become the top sushi chef in the world, the most likely choice for a two-year study abroad culinary/hospitality program would be Japan. If, however, you would like to learn everything there is to know about Italian cooking, what better way than to study in Italy among the people and their culture? There are many schools around the world that offer exchange programs and have partnerships with other schools in foreign countries that allow their students to attend a two-year study abroad culinary/hospitality program, and still earn credit while they're away.

The policies and procedures with the schools in your home countries should also be considered. If it's a program not connected with your college or school, investigate the program thoroughly to ensure it is accredited. Other things you should consider when choosing a two-year study abroad culinary and hospitality program include costs associated with the program, your living arrangements, such as will you be living on your own, with a host family, or in a group situation? This is very important. Also, it's important to study and examine possible cultural differences that are unique to certain areas of the world in which you might be staying. Choose a food, choose a country, and get cooking abroad in a two-year culinary and hospitality program.
