4-Year Degree Programs
four year degreeNo matter where you go, 4-year degree programs offer a complete, well-rounded liberal arts education that can be applied to any career field in any location. After all, you don't necessarily need a business degree to get a job in business, or a technology degree to start working with computers. Four-year degree colleges are famous for providing the kind of education you can use in whatever line of work you choose.

Many 4-year degree programs offer general education courses for the first two years and take the last two years to focus on your major or area of specialization. This way, you have the opportunity to get accustomed to undergraduate-level coursework before delving deeper into your career field.

Gateway to Careers
Four-year degree colleges are a good choice if you're unsure of your career direction because they afford sufficient opportunity to take courses in a variety of disciplines before you commit to a specialization. And if you already have a career path in place, 4-year degree programs provide the learning structure you need to complete your degree in a timely manner.

Four-year degrees are required for entry into many top occupations, such as psychology, financial advising, and education administration. Plus, four-year degrees offer excellent earnings potential, with salaries significantly higher than those for employees who have not pursued any postsecondary education as well as those with two-year degrees.

Path to Graduate Education
If you're planning to pursue graduate education, schooling at a four-year degree college overseas ensures that you'll have fewer potential hurdles to jump over. Some 4-year degree programs are specifically designed as pre-master's programs, serving as a bridge to graduate education. It may be wise to take advantage of these undergraduate degree programs so that you can meet master's degree requirements more quickly and efficiently.

And it's important that you earn your four-year degree from an accredited institution. Some schools offer international accreditation, which can be helpful, but the college should at least be licensed and accredited in its own country. Talk with an advisor at the school to learn about its particular accreditation, and then double-check the accreditation agency's validity with the government of that country.

Any college, whether in your home country or abroad, will require completion of a 4-year degree program from an accredited institution to enroll in a graduate degree program. If your four-year degree is not up to par, you may have to take additional credits before you can begin a master's degree program in another country.

Bridge to Diversity
Four-year degrees may offer the opportunity to take some courses at the "home" institution and others at a partner university overseas. These 4-year degree programs give you the chance to take advanced language courses in another country and time to practice your skills as you converse with native speakers. That level of immersion is critical for mastery of a language and is a terrific resume booster in any career, in any international locale.

Four-year degrees offer the best of all worlds - a truly international education experience. When you earn a four-year degree overseas, you'll find your intercultural skills and experience in demand by employers all over the world.
